Lou Reed fans will probably not be surprised to learn that he's a mean old man.
The Velvet Underground founder made Susan Boyle cry this week when he refused to let her sing his song Perfect Day on America's Got Talent. It seems Susan arrived in L.A. on Wednesday to perform the song but she didn't have permission and Lou refused to grant it, because he's not a fan.
TMZ says that when Susan found out, "she dissolved into tears -- unprepared to change her tune for the show." So she left and caught a flight back to London.
Yeah. Lou's nasty. He should have just let her sing it.
That being said, those producers had to know they needed permission. It's entirely their faults for not getting it in time. Also, he can do what he wants with his own song. I've got nothing against Susan but certainly have no interest in hearing her turn Perfect Day into some lilting adult contemporary ballad – stripping it of the subtext I'm pretty sure she doesn't understand. I'm sorry if that makes me a bad person.
And it's not like he doesn't let anyone sing it. It's been covered by Kirsty MacColl, Patti Smith, Duran Duran, Coldplay and The Leningrad Cowboys, among others. Here it is.
Well; this just only goes to show, even if you are AN UP & COMING STAR (as Susan Boyle is) you just do NOT get each and everything you want to happen in your life.
Which, reminds me of this very old saying...
"Into everyone's life, a little rain (disappointment) must fall."
NotALouFan... it's HIS song. If he doesn't want her to sing it, that's his right. Also, I'm sure your music career has far surpassed Lou's so why don't you write to her and let her sing one of YOUR songs? Oh wait, you probably don't know the first thing about music considering you're bashing Lou Reed!
"HE should have let Susan sing it. She would have done a much better job on the first try then Lou could ever do with this song.....JMO" What a stupid comment lol, Lou sings in a much different style than that over-dramatic operatic Susan Boyle. I'm not even a big fan of Lou Reed's but I'd much rather listen to Velvet Underground than Susan Boyle's retirement home music lol

This goes for...
Nobody's and somebody's and Hollywood stars also.

She needs a babysitter. Has she never heard the showbiz phrase ".. the show must go on".
Hope she gets help.
