Whitesnake has launched their own wine, called Whitesnake Zinfandel. The band's website says "It's a bodacious, cheeky little wine, filled to the brim with the spicy essence of sexy, slippery Snakeyness. I recommend it to complement any and all grown-up friskiness and hot tub jollies." This might actually have happened a couple of months ago, but I'm just getting wind of it now.
Not sure what to make of those tasting notes. Normally I prefer things that read "Ripe berry flavours, vanilla, spice, tar, gravel and coffee." But I do tend to look for the more obscure note, and once bought something because it listed "pencil erasers."
The Zin apparently sells for about $30 a bottle at the De La Montanya Winery.
Whitesnake aren't the first rock stars to have a wine. Vince Neil of the Crue had one, before turning his interest to Tequila. Olivia Newton John launched Koala Blue Wines in the 1980s. Sting supposedly has some bottles from his vineyard coming out this year (or maybe recently released). Madonna's dad has a vineyard that released Madge-related wines. Dave Matthews has an organic ( OF COURSE) winery. Mariah has lent her name to a champagne. The Stones, Mick Fleetwood, Barry Manilow, Elvis - they've all lent their names to wines or produced them. There's even a Bob Dylan wine out there somewhere. But nothing tickles me so much as the Whitesnake Zinfandel.
Somebody who lives in the United States please buy me a bottle of this? I will be your best friend forever. Or until I forget about you. No, but seriously, I don't know how to order wine from U.S.A. Can we do that?
Because if we do, we can drink it as we go again on our own or as we ponder the question: Is This Love? We can drink it in the still of the night, in the cool moonlight.
