It seems that every week someone is claiming to have found the "next Susan Boyle" and it never turns out that way. But Cindy Chang is this week's Susan, according to reports all over the web.
Cindy, a 42-year-old housewife, auditioned for America's Got Talent in Houston, Texas this week, knocking 'em dead with a rendition of O Mio Babbino Caro (but not before drinking olive oil. Ew.).
She's not as awkward as Boyle was on her first day. But she does snort when she laughs. And I can't believe this but I actually got a wee bit verklempt watching her. Just a bit.
So, is she the next SuBo?
FANTASTIC! So refreshing to see an ordinary person accomplishing an extraordinary achievement. Good Luck, Cindy...I will be voting for you!

She can hit the high notes, but her vibrato is almost like yodeling, and she has absolutely no breath control.
Maybe she was just very nervous, but she definitely needs to work hard on her technique if she's going to get anywhere.
I realize that all of these talent shows are trying to find their own Susan Boyle, but so far it hasn't happened.

Not sure if I'd spend any money on her singing, but she's better than most of the wannabes - good luck to her

WAY too much vibrato! A singer (especially an opera singer) needs some vibrato, but she has way too much.
Also, her breath control needs a lot of work.
You can tell she's an untrained singer. A diamond in the VERY rough.

As for that "olive oil" trick, not only is it disgusting, but it's completely counter-productive.
I am a professional singer, and I can tell you that, before a performance, professional singers and voice artists avoid all liquids which contain fat or sugar, since these substances coat the vocal cords and promote the production of mucus, which further clogs up the vocal cords. The only thing that olive oil will do is keep her bowels moving.
Furthermore, she lacks the emotional resonance of Susan Boyle. Susan had lived her life in almost nun-like seclusion, never even having been kissed. When she sang, she brought all of her own heart & soul to her song. This woman is a typical housewife, who's led a normal life, apart from Mommy & Daddy not letting her study to be a singer. And singing an aria in a foreign language isn't the same as singing a song everyone can understand and unconsciously bringing all of her own pent-up emotion into it.

Why do we want to find another Susan come on we need something new and Susan is not for everyone.I wasn't even sure what that girl was singing.

Time to forget about finding the "next Susan Boyle."
Susan Boyle caught everybody off guard. It happened once. The moment's finished. There won't be another Susan Boyle moment because we can't be surprised any more.
Time to let the singers and performers be themselves and make their own music instead of trying to recapture (or copy) Susan Boyle's success story.

PR You don't get it, she will succeed where you never will because she has something you don't. She's genuine and we can relate to her. We don't care if she has too much vibrato or that she needs breath control.

For a true comparison, check Jackie Evancho who
delivers a stellar performance of this piece.
Sorry Cindy, but you need to work on eliminating the wharble
