He’s already well on his way to becoming a one-man media empire, with resume highlights including but not limited to gazillionaire rock star, taste-making American Idol judge, published author, hero to millions and mouthpiece extraordinaire.
Now Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler is set to add “fashion plate” (or “perennial fashion risk,” depending on your POV) to his CV.
According to fashion bible Women's Wear Daily, Tyler is serving as the inspiration and the face of the new Andrew Charles women's and men's contemporary collection. It is being developed by Music Entertainment Sports Holdings (MESH), a division of LF USA.
Tyler and his 22-year-old daughter, Chelsea, an artist and aspiring model, will be featured in an ad campaign and Tyler will make personal appearances when the Andrew Charles women's and men's sportswear is shipped exclusively to 100 Impulse departments of Macy's in the U.S. starting next month.
WWD also notes that the company is producing a series of short videos featuring Tyler and behind-the-scenes footage of the campaign shoot. Those videos will be viewable to Macy’s customers who scan the QR code of the in-store visuals using their smartphones.
"I grew up on Aerosmith and Steven Tyler," says Andy Hilfiger, creative director and president of marketing with Andrew Charles. Hilfiger is also a sometimes musician and designer Tommy's bro.
"I've always loved his music and style,” he continues. “In his own wardrobe, Tyler mixes leather, leopard and scarves, and is known for his animal prints and his accessories. I've always loved his music and his style."
