Adam Lambert performed three songs - "The Show Must Go On," "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" - with Queen at the MTV Europe Music Awards this weekend, where Queen was honoured with a Global Icon Award. Kind of like the Idol season 8 finale, when he and Kris Allen were joined on stage by the group and also performed "We Are The Champions."
He certainly has the vocal chops and bombast to pull this off. People have been saying it for months and I have to admit, even though I thought Lady Gaga fronting the group was also a top idea, that Adam as Queen frontman is really a no brainer. I'm less sure about Selena Gomez's pantsuit.
After the show, Lambert tweeted, "What an enormous honor to sing w QUEEN! I could feel the spirit of [late Queen singer Freddie] Mercury alive on stage tonight! Thank u Brian and Roger and crew. LOVE"
In other Lambert news, Adam is reportedly facing a lawsuit and being accused of violating Idol Rules.
Adam Lambert ROCKED it out last night with Queen! I still have goosebumps! Sorry, but Gaga would just make it about herself, Adam made it about honoring Queen, a true artist who is comfortable with who he is and that's why he stole the show!! Adam is magic on the stage!!! And Brian May and Roger Taylor showed us what talent is all about, they picked the best in Adam! WOW!!! Queen LIVES!!!
Fantastic.
Adam needs to be more "connected" with Brian May though.
I think he was nervous.
If he rolls with them, it will come to him.
( i.e. Plant / Page dynamic )
Good luck Adam.
You are a perfect match.
Mick - There MUST have been some nerves there :) tho it's hard to tell with Adam. But I suspect Adam was having to rein it in a lot, he gets very frisky singing live - especially with guitar players LOL. He is totally connected with his musicians usually when he's performing but I think he wanted to give the band the most spotlight he could and also, after the AMA's I think he finds it difficult to be as natural as he likes to be when he's on shows like this. In that context I thought his interaction with Brian was absolutely magic. I loved the "chasing" stuff and how he kept "handing" the stage to Brian. They seem to have a great connection! Apparently Adam had very little notice and rehearsal time for this too so I am amazed at what they came up with.
sorry, but from the moment he sang the first note, it was apparent Adam is no Freddie Mercury. Freddie could charm the entire audience; Adam appeared to be trying too hard. And of course the voice just does not compare. Freddie Mercury still rules and reigns! Hearing another voice sing Queen just ruins it for die-hard Queen fans.
reunion since finale of american idol

Wow...what an amazing performance. Brian May knows talent and I thank him for that.
I was watching the EMAs...totally bored...but when they started, it blew me away.
It's not often you see such an amazing live performance.
