Today the CBC reports that doctors say he’s recovering. Phew.
The 48-year-old former Wham frontman was hospitalized last week and forced to cancel the remainder of his Symphonica tour, which was scheduled to run until Christmas.
Today - Wednesday - doctors Gottfried Locker and Christoph Zielinski said in statement, "We are happy to announce that Mr. Michael is improving steadily with an impressive regression of pneumonic symptoms and follows a steady rate of improvement as hoped.
"There are no other health issues with regards to the patient other than the underlying pneumonic disorder, and no further measures had to be taken.”
They added, "Complete rest and peace and quiet are mandatory."
Since he fell ill, speculation has spread across the web that Michael is suffering from something more serious -- his partner Anselmo Feleppa reportedly died of an AIDS-related brain hemorrhage in 1993 -- and his rep was quick to state that any rumours that he is suffering from anything more than pneumonia are “unfounded and untrue.”
And this might be that the doctors are referring to when they say he has “no other health issues”
Whatever the case, George is one of our absolute favourite famous people around here and we continue to wish him a speedy recovery.
Good to hear George Michael is on the mend.
