Christian groups are reportedly slamming Johnny Depp and Babybird for a song about Jesus in a strip club.
According to Starpulse, the Christian Coalition and Focus on the Family are angry over the song "Jesus Stag Night Club" by Depp and the British indie rockers. The song tells the tale of a Christ-like figure hanging in a gentlemen's club.
A Focus on the Family spokesperson reportedly said, "We are sickened by Mr. Depp's behaviour. Why did he need to record this song? It is a slap in the face to Christians all over the world."
And Lee Douglas of The Christian Coalition is said to have added, "I'm sure he thinks he's being very funny but he's simply a disgrace. One day, Johnny Depp and his cronies will face the judgment of our Lord and they will burn in hell for this filth."
Babybird, of course, isn't bothered by the reaction, as anyone knows that this sort of thing only serves to boost awareness of the work in question.
The group has posted on its website, "Thank you Christian Coalition for helping us with this tune."
Why is anyone surprised by this??
Johnny Depp and most of the Holleywood ilk are no better or special than many of this fallen world. They reflect the sinful hearts of most of mankind and this indifference to Christ is to be expected. Ours is to pray for these lost souls and let the Judgement of the Lord sort out who is worthy.
Matthew 7:13- "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it".
I say good on Johnny and the band. why be phased by critisism over something you created with no real intent outside of personal creative right. The church is to be respected no more so by the general public than any other group, community or peoples. We all stand under our nations, our laws, umongst eachother all very human at the core. yet often followers within ( though not to say all by any means) are just as quick to slander the figures not associated within their beliefs.Ei.homosexuals being marked as inherantly unfit for gods love thus not deserving basic human civil rights. If it offends you, turn your cheek. It's what I was taught as a child..and in catholic school.
