It’s hard to know what to make of this (it seems childish and easy to call her an "idiot," as so much media is doing - I genuinely think it's more interesting than that), so thank goodness Vice magazine tracked down Kevin Campbell, the tattoo artist who inked Drizzy’s name into the girl’s skin -- apparently, they couldn’t track down the actual face canvas -- to get his story.Campbell, who works at a shop called Will Rise, tells Vice he didn’t know who Drake was. He says, “I figured it was her hood or some sh--, not some goofnugget R&B dude.”He also says there are so many kids walking around his neighbourhood with ridiculous facial tattoos that he didn’t really think twice about it.
Related:
As for how he feels now: “I guess I feel bad that this dumbass got the name of the softest motherf---er in hip-hop tattooed on her forehead...I lost a little sleep over it that first night, wondering if I wanted to be known as the a--hole who tattooed 'Drake' on some crackhead's forehead... In the end, she paid me to do this to her, which really means she did this to herself...”
He added, “if she's got her little heart set on getting her forehead tattooed then she'll just keep on trying until somebody finally goes through with it.”
He also explains, “I think that getting a color portrait of the Joker from Batman is a dumb idea, but who the f--- am I to judge? If some cat from MS13 comes in and wants me to "blast" that s--- on his chin or forehead or whatever, who am I to judge the validity of them getting what they get and where they get it? If I tattoo a huge "BK" on a Crip or tattoo "DRAKE" on some R&B crazed girl's face, what's the difference? Who am I to say which one is wrong and which is right?”
Fair enough, actually. But isn't it a bit rich to be calling the client a "dumbass"? Also, if someone asked you to chop off their leg would you do it because they'd "just keep on trying until somebody finally goes through with it"? It might be a logically sound argument, but I'm not sure it's a good life strategy...
It bears mention also that he seems to suggest she was on drugs when he says, "She was on a pretty good one when she came in, and I think by the time I finished, she was coming down, because her attitude changed pretty drastically once the tattoo was finished."
Read the rest of the interview and see pics during the procedure, at Vice.com. Then tell me, do you think he should have done the tattoo?
Holy Crap!!!
She over-tweezed her brows... Just a wee bit.

LMAO She will never regret this decision! What goes through peoples mindds. Her family adn friends should have done everything they could to prevent this. Even the artist should have said NOPE |Im not ruining your poretty face.

She should have tattooed a big "L" on her forehead instead.
Posted by: mike | 12/14/2011 at 04:24 PM
@axiom - yeah, I saw the non-brows first. OMG - the tatoo artist sounds like a real dink....but it's not up to him to stop people from doing what they want. But maybe, just maybe if they're falling down drunk and/or stoned.....

Actually, with digital imagine today...we shouldn't be so quick to thing this is the real deal!

lol, thats ok, her big ass lips will distract from the ink job. lol.
I wonder what it will look like in 20 years time.

maybe if the idiot that did the work, had thought about the exposure the tattoo would get, he would have concentrated and tried to get the mother***king lines straight.

Drake is dreck.

Good for her. It's a free country and anybody can do whatever they want. That's the whole point. You don't have to like it, you don't live with it. As for the "artist" that did the tattoo, I'd lose no sleep over it buddy. If i' m drunk at the bar and ask for another drink, bartender will serve me..he's not my mom, he's there to sell.

If you look at it,the tattoo isn't even done level or equal on it's lines.Looks like the quality of a basement tattooist.

Who is Drake? her boyfriend or some untalented rap freak
Posted by: Mist | 12/14/2011 at 08:03 PM
She just wants to be noticed. It's not something that I would do, but I don't expect her to be like me. Let her be.

The way I see it, tattoo artist do a lot of tattoos. And it's their career, it's not his life to say no, that's dumb or I'm not doing that. That's like going to a store and a salesperson saying, no that's garbage I won't sell it to you. He's there to make money, not to judge, it's her own decision. She lives with it, not him. If it wasn't him, it'd be someone else making the money, so why not capitalize on it, that's how people stay in business, because some are just idiots.

@axiom:
They shave your hair so they can do the Tattoo

He knew she was high on drugs, it's unethical for a legit tattoo artist to tattoo a client that they know or suspect is high and or drunk,...
Posted by: TommyBoy | 12/15/2011 at 09:48 AM
At least he could of done a better job.
Posted by: Me | 12/15/2011 at 09:49 AM
Tattooists know that they are not supposed to tattoo anyone if they are under the influence of anything. So what was he thinking. If she was straight and wanted to pay for it - sure - go for it. No one can say what tattoo is not right for another person. I've got 3/4 length sleeves + and still getting more - I'm a grandmother that rides. But anyone under the influence should not be tattoo'd.
Posted by: granny | 12/15/2011 at 09:55 AM
I thought tattoo artists are not supposed to do a tattoo when the target appears intoxicated.. I think people have sued about this in the past and won...
Posted by: Laura | 12/15/2011 at 10:04 AM
He shouldn't have done it knowing that she was on drugs.
Posted by: Susanne | 12/15/2011 at 10:05 AM
if he knew she was on a drug high when she came he shouldnt have done the tattoo - no matter how much she was willing to pay for it ! obviously she wasnt "all there". stupidity, intoxication and a large dose of greed comes in to play in this one.
