This is getting ridiculous. Well, it was already. Cher is the latest celebrity to be subject to a death hoax.
The Twittershpere was all abuzz last night and this morning with the "news" that the singer and actress had died. According to Starpulse, it started with “@Lorraine_Star,” who faked a retweet from CNN reading, “RT @CNN: American recording artist Cher dies at 65 years old. Found dead in Malibu home.”
People bought it, including miss Kim Kardashian who posted “Did I just hear Cher has passed away? Is this real? OMG...I hope this is a twitter joke and not true. I don’t see it on the news anywhere. I’m praying its not true…”
Gossipcop.com reports that the the "Turn Back Time" singer is alive and well. Phew. And her friend Loree Rodkin set the record straight tweeting, “It’s a hoax. She’s fine.” (via Rumorfix.com)
Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Paul McCartney and Jon Bon Jovi are among the many many many stars who have had bogus news of their demise spread across the web.
