OK, I’m officially sick of Lana Del Rey. GAWD. Its probably not even her fault, but has anyone ever been more overexposed before even releasing an album?
Oh, wait! That’s not actually the case. It seems the hipster phenom released an album in 2010 on the indie Five Point Records, which was available on iTunes for about two months before it was pulled.
Now, as her second record, Born to Die readies to drop January 31, Lana tells the BBC - via Rolling Stone - that she has bought the rights to the first one and plans to release it in summer. She says it wasn’t shelved because it sucked but because of lack of funds:
"I had signed to an independent label but they couldn't fund the release of it. People act like it's so shrouded in mystery, the 'forgotten terrible album.' But if you look on YouTube, all 13 tracks are available with millions of views, so it's not like no one's heard them. We were all proud of it. It's pretty good."
She also weighs in on her current level of exposure, complaining, "My publicists, in their long career, say they have never seen someone be more fictionalized."
I’m not sure "fictionalized" is the right word. You?
