Just hours after his ex-wife, 48-year-old Whitney Houston, was found dead in the Beverely Hilton hotel on Saturday, singer Bobby Brown was supposed to take the stage to perform alongside his group New Edition.

Although, according to Us Weekly, Brown missed the set's first song, he quickly joined NE onstage in Mississippi. Tearful, Brown shouted, "I love you, Whitney!" at one point during the emotional show, then blew a kiss skyward.

While singing his smash solo hit "Tenderoni," Brown broke down crying and requested that the crowd sing along.

The two superstars were married from 1992 to 2007 and share a daughter, Bobbi Kristina, who was born in 1993.

It is so sad that these 2 mega stars had such a difficult time in their lives. Take stock of this Bobby Brown and clean up your act for your daughter that you and Whitney share. She needs you more now than ever. What a sad end to such a great career!Don't let your life become such a mess of not taking care of yourself and the people who love and need you.

So sad! We lost a great singer - she had such a beautiful voice - my condolences to her daughter.
