Madonna throne

Is Madonna taking a swipe at Lady Gaga?

It looks like it in this footage from her tour rehearsal in Tel Aviv, where she transitions from "Respect Yourself" into Gaga's "Born This Way," which infamously sounds a lot like the former, then trails off by singing "She's not me," several times. Looks like Gags has gotten under Madge's skin. (Maybe she'll wear it to the VMAs! Amirite? Ha. Ew. That joke was gross...)

Lady Gaga Simpsons
Lady Gaga's Simpsons
episode aired on Sunday, ending the show's millionth season with a flaming bra and a song about little monsters.

Gaga performed a track on the episode titled "You're All My Little Monsters," designed to give the citizens of Springfield an ego boost, I think.

"They did such an amazing job," Gaga tweeted on Saturday. "I hope you like my voice-over acting debut!"

Meanwhile, the controversy over Gaga's concert dates in Asia continues. Billboard reports that her first Malaysian stop went smoothly on Monday night, despite a planned protest from Christian groups, but a Jakarta, Indonesia show is still up in the air after calls for cancellation.

Watch the Simpsons clip after the jump.

Lady Gaga

Mother monster Lady Gaga will make an appearance on The Simpsons for the show's 23rd season finale, slated to air on May 20th.

In the episode, Gaga recycles the meat dress she wore to the 2010 MTV Awards....and Homer, of course, starts eating it. Oh, that Homer. He's always eating stuff.

Nicki Minaj tights
Nicki Minaj is unimpressed with people comparing her to Lady Gaga. In fact, the hottest lady rapper in today's game challenges you to point out the similarities between her and Gaga - who is, she quite accurately points out, not a rapper.

Actually, she challenges Nightline's Juju Chang, saying, when asked if the comparisons offend her, "Offend me? No. Irks me? Yeah,” then adding, “First of all, I’m a rapper. First of all, I’m from southside Jamaica, Queens. What are the similarities? Why don't I turn the cameras around and ask you?”

"...just the...wigs..." Chang offers.

Lady Gaga
Happy birthday to Lady Gaga who turns 26 years old today. In those 26 years, Gaga has done pretty well for herself, selling millions of albums, topping the charts and becoming a regular on "richest" and "most powerful" lists. She's also gone bankrupt four times, if you believe the facts posted on ladygaga.wiki.com. In honour of Gaga's 26 years, here are 26 "Lady Gaga Facts" sourced from that site, mademan.com and our own Gaga page. Did you know...

1. Gaga’s birth name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta

2. Her stage name is a reference to Queen's song "Radio Ga Ga”

Rufus Wainwright
Oooh! Is it a new feud? Probablt not. But Canadian/American musician Rufus Wainwright doesn’t think much of Lady Gaga.

Wainwright, the son of Loudon Wainwright III and Canadian folk singer Kate McGarrigle, is currently promoting a new album titled Out of the Game. In an interview with Music Week, he chatted about his romantic crush on the album’s producer Mark Ronson, and about his decided lack of crush on Gaga.

He says of the pop star, “I totally admire her tenacity, her ambition and her strength of vision. There’s just not one good song there.

“People, especially gay men, are falling so hard for it. Certain things that [she] says: ‘Look at me. I was like you one day and now I’m this – and you can do it too.’ I find it a bit disingenuous. We are in this somewhat sinister period and [artists have] got to kind of toughen up and be real. I guess I want to put a little bit more grit into my presentation of what’s happening in the world. It’s about conveying what’s inside us, as opposed to the return of the cone breasts. I find it predictable and boring.”

Huh. Rufus Wainwright is awesome. He's a fascinating a courageous artist. But did he just call Lady Gaga predictable and boring? And hasn’t it become a bit predictable and boring to call Lady Gaga predictable and boring? Also, it’s difficult to argue after watching her perform acoustically that she’s not a very good songwriter. See?

Anyway, Rufus’ album drops April 23.

He says it’s influenced by greats like Elton John, Freddie Mercury and David Bowie, and calls it “the most pop album I’ve ever made,” while Ronson says “It’s the best work of my career."

Featured musicians include Amy Winehouse's backing band the Dapkings, Wilco’s Nels Cline, Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sean Lennon and Rufus’s sister Martha Wainwright.

Lady Gaga Paul McCartney
Welcome to this week's caption contest! Isn't this exciting?

Your subjects today - above - are Lady Gaga and some guy named Paul McCartney who I think was in some band a while ago or something. I'm not sure. They're at Sunday's Grammy Awards and she appears to be kissing him and he appears to he reacting with surprise.

Got a funny, clever, brilliant or existential caption for the picture? Write it in the comments section below. Fart jokes will not be published. We'll pick a winner and that winner will win the thrill and satisfaction of having his or her name and winning caption posted on this blog on Wednesday, February 22. Other than that, you get nothing. But it's not like it's going to take much work.

Now get to it. Good luck.

See last week's winner here!

Lady Gaga 5
Lady Gaga is launching her own social media site.  Of course she is. This is so logically the next step.

According to Mashable, LittleMonsters.com is still in closed beta (I signed up for an invitation so I could have a look around but haven’t received it yet). The site was created by startup Backplane, and will give Gaga fans, a.k.a. Little Monsters, an outlet to create or share Gaga-related content, interact with fellow monsters and publicly like what other users post.

Mashable says, “The Little Monsters website appears to be latching on to what’s hot on the web right now: sharing visuals and rating content.”
