Marine Le Pen, leader of France's National Front has reportedly threatened to sue Madonna, should the singer bring a video image depicting Le Pen with a swastika on her forehead to France.
The fleeting image was shown during Madonna's Tel Aviv concert last Thursday as part of her MDNA world tour. This is reported by both The SUN and The Telegraph, though interestingly, the image on the Telegraph website does NOT appear in the video as far as I can tell. I have gone through it about ten times, in slow motion, so I'm not sure where it came from. What does appear is the above image.
If you are a Madonna fan (I'm not, but you might be!) who is sad because you couldn't be at the kickoff of her MDNA tour in Tel Aviv last night, here's a behind-the-scenes video!
Don't say I never did nothin' for ya.
Here also is the final version of her mashup of "Express Yourself" and Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," during which she does some weird lifting of her skirt (why wear one, hon?). Yes, it's obviously a dig.
Women's Wear Daily has a sneak peak at the costumes Madonna will be wearing on her MDNA tour, which kicks off today in Tel Aviv.
WWD says, "The Material Girl’s parade of costume changes includes outfits from longtime collaborators Jean Paul Gaultier and Jeremy Scott, shoes from Prada and Miu Miu and pieces from Alexander Wang. Dolce & Gabbana made suits for the band and background vocalists, Fausto Puglisi created menacing bandolier vests and rams head masks for the backup dancers and even J Brand whipped up custom-made jeans." (I have no clue who J Brand is or why he merits an "even" but he must be important!)
It looks like it in this footage from her tour rehearsal in Tel Aviv, where she transitions from "Respect Yourself" into Gaga's "Born This Way," which infamously sounds a lot like the former, then trails off by singing "She's not me," several times. Looks like Gags has gotten under Madge's skin. (Maybe she'll wear it to the VMAs! Amirite? Ha. Ew. That joke was gross...)
Diet Coke now has a bottle inspired by Madonna's iconic cone bra outfit. Why that is supposedly a good idea, I'll never know. But it might have something to do with Europe, or France, which is where the bottle is available. So, sorry if you live in North America and have always wanted to drink your Diet coke out of Madonna's bra or a print fascimile; you're out of luck.
Billboard reports that Jean Paul Gaultier, the French Fashion designer famous for his avant garde designs, creating costumes for movies like The Fifth Element and The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and her Lover, and, of course, for Madge's famous 1990 outfit featuring a brassiere that'll take your eye out, was recently appointed creative director of Diet Coke.
Madonna has debuted a video ad for her new fragrance Truth or Dare.
It was announced a few months ago that she'd be launching her first scent after over thirty years in the business and that said scent is inspired by Madonna's mother, who died of breast cancer in 1963.
The ad features the new single "Girl Gone Wild" and is similar to the black and white video for the track, which in turn hearkens back to the "Erotica"/"Justify My Love" days of the 1990s.
Madonna may think drugs are cool but Deadmau5 thinks she's an idiot.
The Canadian DJ mocked the 53-year-old Material Girl for glorifying the party drug ecstasy during a recent concert appearance and for trying to appear "hip and trendy."
On stage at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami this weekend, Madge shouted to the crowd, "How many people in this crowd have seen molly?"
"Molly" is a slang term for MDMA, or ecstasy, a popular drug with the electronic dance music community. The title of Madge's new album MDNA, is also widely presumed to be a reference to the drug.
The crowd cheered and Deadmau5 took to his Facebook page to vent his ire, writing, "very classy there madonna. "HUR DUR HAS ANYONE SEEN MOLLY???" such a great message for the young music lovers at ultra. quite the f'n philanthropist. but hey, at least yer HIP AND TRENDY! f---ing cant smack my head hard enough right now."
He also accused Madonna of reaching "an entirely NEW level of idiocy" and asked, "WHAT THE F--- WAS THAT? That's your big contribution to EDM [Electronic Dance Music]? Thats your big message to ultra attendies? hipsterspeak for looking for drugs? f--- off you f---ing IDIOT. f---."
The comments sparked a spirited discussion on Deadmau5's page, which included accusations of hypocrisy as well as support.
The DJ then addressed the issue on his Tumblr blog, in a very messy and VERY swear-y post (warning: language) in which he explains, "Im not perfect. i have my vices, and some of them are probably more harmful than a recreational drug or two… but i do know that i am at the very least morally obligated not to blatantly inflict or advocate anything that’s detrimental to society, others health, etc."
He later added on Facebook, "I stand by my points on responsibility and what happened, but on hindsight, yeah, could have used alot less explicitives and possibly worded it better."
So, who's side are you on?
Below is video of the concert appearance that got Deadmau5 so mad.
It’s a good couple of weeks for people who like beefs. Piers Morgan, M.I.A. and Tom Jones aren’t the only ones picking fights lately. Gene Simmons is also taking swings.
Wanna hear Madonna's daughter Lourdes sing? Apparently she's doing the backing vocals on this audio preview from the song "Superstar" off the upcoming album MDNA.
So you know she's working hard, Madonna posted some pics on her Facebook page of some of the cuts and bruises she's gotten while rehearsing for her upcoming tour.
The 53-year-old Material Girl posted the photos with the captions, "Heart shaped bruise on my a--," "Cut my lip from rehearsing Girl Gone Wild," and "Bruises on my leg from rehearsal."
Weird. I didn't know she was blood and stuff like normal people, since I've sort of assumed she's been turning to stone for the past 20 years.
The pics prompted a flurry of well wishes in the form of almost 3,000 comments from concerned fans. And I'm sure she read every single one.
The tour begins May 29 in Tel Aviv, crosses the Middle East, Europe and North America and ends November 20 in Miami.
Madge's 12th studio album, MDNA, is expected to drop March 26.
And last week she released a teaser trailer for her "Girl Gone Wild" video. Here it is.
