Kristen Wiig
Wanna see Kristen Wiig sing with the Foo Fighters? Sure. Why not?

This is from Splitsider, which reports that after the season finale of SNL on Saturday, "a stage was set up at the 30 Rock rink for the afterparty, where the Foo Fighters (actually, their cover band alter ego "Chevy Metal") set up shop and played for a couple hours," inviting a number of castmembers up to sing and play.

Here's Kristen singing Joan Jett's "I Love Rock n Roll" with Jason Sudeikis and Andy Samberg on backing vocals. Yikes. She totally would not make it through to the next round on American Idol. I'm just sayin'.

Amy Poehler also apparently sang Jett's "Bad Reputation."

Video after the jump.

Alanis Morissette

The nineties really are back. Fiona Apple, The Cranberries, Soundgarden, flowered rompers and floppy hats... they're all back! Also, Everclear, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Marcy Playground, and Lit are all going on tour together. But that's not all. I got on the subway the other day and saw backpackers, velco sandals, dudes with long hair, toques, Doctor Martens, plaid, and an oversize Bob Marley T-shirt. ALL ON ONE SUBWAY CAR.

And now we've got new music from Alanis Morissette.

Granted, it's totally unfair to cast Alanis as some sort of transplant from the 1990s, as she has released plenty of music in the past decade but, as her heyday - and WHAT a heyday it was - was in that decade, everthing she does just has an undeniable whiff of it.

The track is titled "Guardian" and it's from the album, Havoc and Bright Lights, which will be released August 28.

Alanis will perform the song on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" on Tuesday, May 15. That same day, it will be made available on iTunes. Billboard reports that she'll also perform on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on May 22.

"This record, as always, is a snapshot of what I currently obsess about, care about, and what strikes me at 4 in the morning in my most introspective moments," says Morissette, who married and gave birth to a child in 2010.

"(Havoc) is my emotional, psychological, social and philosophical commentary through song."

Here's the lyric video the song. What do you think?

Neil Young and Crazy Horse Oh Susannah
Here's a new single and video from the inimitable Neil Young & Crazy Horse.

The track is a gritty cover of Oh Susannah, but with a contemporary trope of spelling out B-A-N-J-O, as in "I come from Alabama with my B-A-N-J-O on my knee."

The track is off their upcoming album, Americana slated for release June 5. The album features classic folk tunes rejigged in Neil Young rock style.

One Direction
So, the boyband resurgence is weird enough.

See, it seems now that Justin Bieber is of legal age to get married, star in an adult movie, adopt a child in Kentucky and drink in Peru, the tweens need someone new to scream about. Enter the new crop of boys singing and dancing in unison: One Direction and The Wanted.

The girls are going NUTS for these buoyant, tousled, wholesome kids from overseas. They're getting so excited that have to be taken to hospital! (In other news, little girls are also really, really weird.)

Even weirder? The SUN is claiming that U2 is taking a page from the boy band book and hiring One Direction’s songwriter.

Alice Cooper Honorary Doctorate
On Saturday, Alice Cooper delivered the Graduation Commencement Speech to 600 grads from The Musicians Institute in Los Angeles.

He opened by joking "First of all, the fact that I am here as your keynote speaker raises a lot of red flags. It show's an obvious lack of judgment on your part."

The veteran shock rocker also received an Honorary Doctorate from the school, the second such degree he's been awarded - the other is from the Christian liberal arts college. He cracked, "One more of these and I can write prescriptions." (That's not true, right?)

Doobie Brothers
Doobie Brothers
drummer Michael Hossack has died at age 65.

Rolling Stone reports that Hossack (at left in the photo), had been suffering from cancer some time and that he died at his home in Dubois, Wyoming, yesterday with his family at his side.

Hossack, known as "Big Mike" to his former band members, joined the Doobie Brothers in 1971. He was just one of the group's trademark "twin drummers" and he played on the band's early albums Toulouse Street in 1972, The Captain and Me in 1973 and What Were Once Vices are Now Habits in 1974, which spawned the band's first #1 hit, "Black Water."

RHCP
This is neat. The Red Hot Chili Peppers have released an interactive video for their track "Look Around," which allows you to do just that (found via Mashable). Hitting the arrows lets you move through separate rooms, each featuring one band member. You can also zoom in and out and hit links to images and videos.

A non-interactive version of the same video was also released recently.

Several artists have released interactive music videos over the past few years, including Arcade Fire, Devo, Danger Mouse and OK Go.
